"To keep ourselves right in all things, we ought to hold fast to this principle: What seems to me to be white, I will believe to be black if the hierarchical Church thus determines it. For we believe that between Christ our Lord, the Bridegroom, and the Church, His Spouse, there is the one same Spirit who governs and guides us for the salvation of our souls..." - Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius [365]

Entrance Day at Sacred Heart Novitiate - Jesuits

The Philippine Province of the Society of Jesus accepts nine new novices in her ranks today (May 31st). There will be fourteen Jesuit novices now in the Philippine Province. The eve of the Feast of the Visitation has become the traditional day of Jesuits in the Philippines to accept new novices. The Novitiate is the first formal stage of Jesuit formation, the first two years of eleven years of intensive formation before the Jesuit becomes a full-fledge Brother or Priest. The Novitiate of the Jesuits in the Philippines is in Novaliches, Quezon City.

We therefore ask for your prayers that as we Jesuits welcome these nine men in our ranks, the Lord may bless them, guide them, and make them holy and faithful Jesuits. We also pray that as they spend their first two years in the Society, the Lord may grant them the grace to "know Him more intimately, love Him more dearly, and follow Him more closely" (the Grace of the Second Week of the Spiritual Exercises).

To know more about the Jesuits, you may visit our website: www.jesuits.ph or send an e-mail to our Vocations Promoters at heswita@jesuits.net
